The Southern Appalachian Work Center (SAWC) and Wright State University have expanded their relationship; therefore, coming in 2020, the Wright State University Freshman Outdoor Orientation Trip (FOOT Program) will grow in the southern region. In partnership with Cherokee National Forest, Mt. Rogers Outfitters (MRO), Kincora Hiker Hostel, and Bob's Dairyland, the Southern Appalachian Work Center has created an outreach model for collegiate trail work and stewardship in the southern Appalachians. On a quarterly basis, the Wright State University FOOT Program will travel to Northeast Tennessee for an overnight comprehensive trail work event on dedicated Forest Service trails in the southern region. Subscribe to the Southern Appalachian News for quarterly details on these important outreach and preservation events.
