The Southern Appalachian Work Center (SAWC) and Wright State University have expanded their relationship; therefore, coming in 2020, the Wright State University Freshman Outdoor Orientation Trip (FOOT Program) will grow in the southern region. In partnership with Mt. Rogers Outfitters (MRO), and Kincora Hiker Hostel, the Southern Appalachian Work Center has created an outreach model for collegiate trail work and stewardship in the southern Appalachians. On a quarterly basis, the Wright State FOOT Program will travel to Northeast Tennessee for a one day comprehensive trail work event on specific Forest Service trails in the south dedicated to outreach, training, and long term trail preservation at the collegiate level. Subscribe to the Southern Appalachian News for quarterly details on these important outreach and preservation events.
